A couple of readers have recently asked me to revisit my evaluation of home office software firewalls and their specific interest was in ZoneAlarm. I have to admit, when I completed the first review I had not heard of ZoneAlarm and did not include it. Since then I have heard a number of good things about the product. Shortly, IThell.com will include a review of ZoneAlarm along with other home/small office firewall options. Eric, I noticed that Zone Alarm was not included in the products you mentioned. Despite its unconventional interface, it is an effective software firewall at a comparable price to Black Ice. (it also has a free version for home users) http://www.zonelabs.com Did you not like this product or did you find it faulty? The reason I ask is that I am about to upgrade my firewall. Thanks. Peter Roscoe Eric, Regarding firewalls for home computers: (1) Do you have any opinion on ZoneAlarm (2.0)? (2) Any comments on Steve Gibson's (admittedly out of date) comments on Black Ice defender? (the review of Black ice is near the bottom of this long web page) http://grc.com/su-firewalls.htm I am a reasonably computer savy, but non-IT person who recently discovered your site. Thanks.
